"Gifted" means a student who performs or shows potential for performing at remarkably high levels of accomplishment when compared to others of their age, experience or environment and who are identified under division (A), (B), (C), or (D) of section 3324.03 of the Ohio Revised Code.
The district accepts referrals, screens, and identifies, or reassesses students who perform or show potential for performing at high levels of accomplishment in the areas of superior cognitive ability, specific academic ability, creative thinking ability, and/or visual and/or performing arts. The district must follow policy and procedures established in Ohio Administrative Code 3301-51-15.
While the state of Ohio requires school districts to identify gifted students, there is no requirement that gifted services be provided. Our district is required to notify parent(s)/guardian(s) if their child meets criteria to be identified.
- Currently services are provided at all three buildings- more information on identification and criteria for services can be found under the "Gifted Handbook"
- Services are subject to change*
- Acceleration referral deadline: September 1 each year
- Gifted identification referral window deadlines: September 1 and March 1 each year
