Summer 2019 is shaping up to be one of opportunity for students at Circleville City Schools with local and county educational programming. See details below on opportunities for students K-12! Scholarship applications are available to support summer learning and can be found on their website at www.circlevillecityschoolfoundation.org.    
 
Circleville Athletics Camps

Extra Mile Summer Learning Academy (June 4th-20th; Monday-Thursday only)
Students participate in camps. 

The Extra Mile afterschool program at Circleville Middle School and Circleville High School will be holding its 2019 Summer Learning Academy from June 3rd-20th, Monday through Thursday only from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The 6th-8th grade portion of the academy will be Math, Language Arts, and STEM based. Students will receive breakfast and lunch daily with attendance and transportation available. The 9th-12th grade program will be credit recovery based for students needing to make up credits. All Extra Mile summer programming is free of charge in 2019.

Tiger Reading Bus 

Our annual Circleville Elementary School Tiger Reading Bus tour is set to launch on June 4th from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. The program will once again be held on Tuesdays throughout the summer and will run through July 30th. Upon visiting the bus with an accompanied adult, students will be able to check-out up to five books per visit and will also recieve a prepared sack lunch upon departure.

Elementary STEM Camp (June 10-14) Grades K-5

We are pleased to inform you about a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) Camp being offered this summer for grades K-5 during the week of June 10th – 14th.  The cost this year is $50 per student. Fee must be paid on EZPay, which can be accessed on our school’s website. If you need to create an account on EZPay, you will need your child’s ID number. If you do not have your child’s student ID number, please call the front office for the ID number at 740-474-2495. There are scholarships available to students through the Circleville City School Foundation for this camp and any other summer camp students might be interested in attending K-12.  

Students who are accepted into this one week camp will explore STEAM-related, hands-on activities tied to Machines and Robotics.  The Machines and Robotics theme will be carried out throughout the week and a field trip will be planned on Wednesday, June 12th of that week.  On the day of the field trip, the hours will be extended (8:30 a.m. to around 3:00 p.m.) More information will be provided during the week of the camp.  Teachers from the elementary school will serve as instructors for the week. To enroll your child, sign and return the attached busing and permission forms by May 3rd while spots last.  We are excited to offer this new STEAM opportunity to our CES students this summer. What: Machines and Robotics STEAM Camp

Who: Grades K-5

When: June 10th through June 14th

Where: Circleville Elementary School

Time: 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Cost: $50 – to be paid on EZPay

Transportation: A.   Busing will be provided, so times will vary for pick up. You will be

contacted prior to the camp start date with an approximate time of pick

up and drop off.

Food:   Breakfast will be provided upon arrival from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. along with lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Kids on Campus (June 3-7; 10-14)
Kids on Campus is a summer enrichment program for students currently in grades 1-4 who are interested in improving their math, music, science, technology or visual arts skills through exciting, hands-on learning activities. More information and registration form - .Kids on Campus Flyer
 
 
Pioneer Camp at Mount Oval (July 17th - 8:15 a.m.-3:30 p.m. ) Flier Link 
Cost: $15 per child to cover the cost of a T-shirt and craft materials. The cost will
be a total of $23 for those who wish to attend both the Pioneer Day Camp and
the Nature Day Camp.The day will be filled with outdoor hands-on activities at historic Mt. Oval.
Following a tour of Mt. Oval, the children will experience making butter, playing
pioneer games, and singing and dancing to pioneer music. While hiking the
children will come upon a “frontiersman” who will tell them about early life on
the Pickaway Plains. Crafts will include leather stamping, rope making, and
candle making. The children will be given a treat of homemade ice cream in the
afternoon.
 
Children will need to dress comfortably and bring a sack lunch. Lemonade
and water will be provided.
 
All activities will be conducted and supervised by professional educators.

Nature Camp (July 24th - 8:15 a.m.-3:30 p.m.) Flier Link 
 
Cost: $15 per child to cover the cost of a T-shirt and craft materials. The
cost for those who attend both the Nature Day Camp and the Pioneer Day Camp
will be a total of $23. The day will be filled with outdoor hands-on activities, games, and crafts.
An officer from the Division of Wildlife will instruct each child in archery and if the
weather permits will take the children on a creek walk. The children will also be
given an opportunity to touch the furs of some of Ohio’s wild animals as an
educator tells them about the habits of the animals. Other lessons will be
conducted by a master gardener and a butterfly expert.
 
Children will need to dress comfortably and bring a sack lunch. Lemonade
and water will be provided.
 
All activities will be supervised by professional educators.
