Mrs. Paxton named Ohio Lottery Teacher of the Month

Circleville City Schools – Circleville Middle School 7th grade teacher Brooke Paxton has been named the recipient of the Ohio Lottery Partners in Education Teacher of the Month award for the month of August 2018.

The Ohio Lottery Partners in Education Teacher of the Month award recognizes outstanding K-12 teachers for their excellence in the classroom, leadership, creativity and community involvement and dedication on behalf of Ohio students.

In recognition of her exhaustive efforts to create and expand upon opportunities for her students and the student body at Circleville Middle School, Paxton has championed student achievement in recent months by way of:

Writing and receiving a Circleville City School Foundation (CCSF) grant to launch a kindness initiative at Circleville Middle School where all 6th-8th grade students received a copy of R.J Palacio’s book Wonder, implemented kindness projects in their school and community, and organized a fundraiser for the Emergency Clearinghouse with a Penny War donation competition among classrooms.

Organized a May 2018 innovative literacy fair where students in the Extra Mile after school program and honors English track presented to the public in a science-fair style setting covering a book they had read throughout the year.

In recognition of this honor, Paxton will formally be recognized at the October 10th meeting of the Circleville City School District Board of Education to be held at 7 p.m. in the High School Alumni Room.
