At Wednesday night's meeting of the board of education, Circleville High School students Ryan Jenkins, Autumn Derosette, and Gretchen Search were honored for their academic performance on the state AIR American History Assessment this past spring.

These three Tigers individually attained the highest score achievable on the state assessment which covers American History from 1877 to present. The assessment covers topics from Industrialism and Progressivism post-Civil War to the Cold War and beyond.

"I’ve only had one other student [accomplish this score] in my career before," said teacher Jason Beavers. "I think our history department is very locked-in concerning how to prep for the End of Course exam. We know, due to our training from ODE, that the test comes straight from the Model Curriculum. We balance giving the students the basics from the Model Curriculum and going beyond the standards to enrich and intrigue the students. Mr. Hamman and Mr. Evans do great work in preparing our kids for the Government and History End of Course exams and I think it shows in our scores."

Congratulations to Ryan, Autumn, and Gretchen!
