Annually, the U.S. News Best High Schools rankings include data on more than 23,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. More than 17,000 schools were ranked on six factors based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college according to USnews.com.

The rankings have been developed in collaboration with North Carolina-based RTI International, a global nonprofit social science research firm.

Specifically, Circleville High School placed atop the list for Pickaway County, placed in the Top 20% in the State of Ohio (191/916 scored Ohio high schools) and placed in the 71st percentile nationally (5,053/17,245 scored U.S. high schools).

Schools are ranked nationally in alignment with five scored categories which are as follows: College Readiness Index Rank, College Curriculum Breadth Index Rank, Math and Reading Proficiency Rank, Math and Reading Performance Rank, and Graduation Rate Rank.
