InformationGeneralThe library media center is open 7:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. Students may come to the library media center with their classes for research assignments. Students may also visit the media center at any time during the school day, with a pass from their teacher.The student should sign the log-in sheet on the way in. The student should come directly and promptly to the library media center from the classroom unless given permission from the teacher in writing to detour. ResourcesOnline catalog stations offer automated author, title, subject, and keyword searching of the library’s collection. The online catalog can be accessed in the library, from other classrooms, and from home.The library's website offers access to search engines and other curriculum resources. Access to INFOhio's resources is also available. Lending ProceduresBooks may be checked out for three weeks and renewed for an additional three weeks, so long as a reserve has not been made on them. Up to three books may be checked out at one time. Reference books, books on reserve for specific classes, and magazines may not be checked out.All materials must be checked out on the computer at the circulation desk. Students are expected to return materials on or before the due date. Books should be returned in the media center. Each student is responsible for the library media center materials he/she borrows. If an item is lost or damaged while it is officially in a student's care, the student is expected to pay for the item. Students having overdue materials will not be permitted to borrow new materials. RulesThe library media center should be a quiet area to work and study. Loud or disruptive behavior or having nothing to do will result in students being sent back to class. To help maintain a studious atmosphere, the library media center staff limits the number of students to four to each table.Students are expected to come to the library with work to do. Students may work on class assignments, do work on the computers, or read. Eating, drinking, and chewing gum are not allowed in the library media center. Upon leaving the library media center, students should put their trash in wastebaskets, return materials to their proper spot, and push chairs back under the tables. Internet UseStudents are encouraged to use the library media center computers for research. Computers are available in the library for student use with Internet access. According to Circleville City School System policy, all students must have a signed Acceptable Use Policy on file before using the Internet on any school computer. Students are not allowed to email or play games on the computers. If you have any computer trouble at all, please ask the library media center staff for assistance. Since no fees are placed on computer printouts, we ask that students limit printouts to 5 pages. Check with the librarian if you need to print more. Students must ask permission to print images and Internet pages. Taking notes is encouraged.
