APPLICATIONS

Scholarship opportunities will be announced on the morning announcements and in the Red/Black page of the newspaper. Applications will be on file in Mr. Strawser’s office. A calendar will be posted in the Guidance office with deadlines noted. Please observe the deadline and make sure your applications are complete. Local scholarship applications should be returned to the Guidance office unless other wise noted on the application. Remember – check to see if you meet eligibility requirements. Even though you may think you have a slim chance of getting a scholarship, you have NO CHANCE, at all, if you don’t apply!

The Chillicothe Scholarship Foundation offers scholarships to graduating seniors who plan to attend Ohio University-Chillicothe. Applicants will be judged on scholastic achievement and aptitude, financial need, extracurricular activities and recommendations. Applicants need to submit a completed application, three recommendations, an autobiographical statement, and a financial statement to the guidance office no later than May 19, 2008. Applications are available in the Guidance office.

The Frank “Bo” Dunlap Foundation offers scholarships to full-time undergraduate or graduate students. Qualified applicants are those who are current residents of Wayne Township, Pickaway County for a period of at least four years prior to making this application, must be graduated or about to graduate from high school or its equivalent, and be enrolled or about to enroll in an accredited college, junior college, university, trade or business school or a graduate, post-graduate or professional school. Applicants must demonstrate sufficient academic ability to enable applicant to complete the courses of study necessary to graduate from the educational institution at which the applicant is about to enroll, demonstrate character and motivation, and exhibit some need for financial assistance. Applications may be found in the guidance office. Completed applications are to be returned to the guidance office no later than May 26, 2008.

The Judy and Dean Reinhard Scholarship is now available to graduating seniors from the following counties: Delaware, Fairfield, Franklin, Licking, Madison, Pickaway, and Union. The candidates must be majoring in one of the following areas: human resources, ge. Recipients will be chosen with the following criteria: financial need, character, academic potential, and community service. Application may be found in the guidance office. The application deadline is June 1, 2008.

The Piave Club of Columbus, Ohio is sponsoring a scholarship for a high school scholar-athlete, male or female, of Italian descent. The scholarship is a one year offering to help the student advance his/her education at any accredited institution of advanced education. Applicant should be at least half Italian descent, should rank in the top 25% of his/her class, have earned two varsity letters in two sports or three varsity letters in one sport, should be involved in school activities other than athletics, and must be recommended by a coach, guidance counselor and at least one teacher. Completed applications must be returned by June 15, 2008.

Enter to win a free $10,000 Toyota Scholarship! It is an easy three minute application for any student planning to attend a four year university, graduate school, or junior college. The Glenna R. Joyce Scholarship was established in 1961 by the late Glenna R. Joyce. The purpose of the scholarship is to enable students from the Columbus area to attend The Ohio State University or the University of Notre Dame. The scholarship consists of ll standard expenses of attending four years at The Ohio State University (12 quarters) or the University of Notre Dame (8 semesters). The Voice of Democracy is a scholarship contest sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Any student grades 9-12 are eligible to compete for these scholarships. Each year more than $2.5 million in scholarships are awarded nationally. This year’s theme is The Role in Honoring America’s Veterans. Students compete by writing and recording a broadcast script. Details may be found in the guidance office.

Students who will be attending Columbus State Community College next fall may qualify for more than $250,000 of scholarships available to them. Many of the stipends do not require super-high GPAs or SAT/AT scores and they are renewable. The following scholarships are offered: Partnership Scholarships, Success Scholarships, Tech Prep Scholarships, and Athletic Scholarships. Students wanting further details on additional scholarships and financial aid at Columbus State should click on the Financial Aid tab on the college website at www.cscc.edu.

The Army Relief offers financial assistance for undergraduate studies to dependent children of Army Soldiers. The MG James Ursano Scholarship Program administered by AER is for students who study at an undergraduate, technical or vocational institution accredited by the U.S. Department of Education and approved for Title IV funds. cholarships are awarded based primarily on financial need, secondarily on academic achievements and individual accomplishments. Are you a senior male student who has been accepted by the University of Toledo? If so, the Balanced Man Scholarship may be for you. Applications and details may be found inthe guidance office.

Pickaway-Ross Career and Technology Center is offering twelve $1000 scholarships for the 2008/2009 school year. Students must be enrolled in a full time career and technical (600 hrs plus) program through the adult education department at Pickaway-Ross CTC. Applications and further details may be found in the guidance office.
