of Study
Level I:
1.
Dean Vaughn Medical Terminology- 350 medical terms and
symbols will be taught. This course will be taught in the first semester.
Students receiving an 85% average on final exams will receive a certificate.
Students must pass both exams with a C or greater to receive certificate
also.
2.
Basic Anatomy and Physiology- Concepts will be studied throughout
Level I and II. Students will study about the body; its functions and
diseases. Students are highly encouraged to take an Anatomy and Physiology
course at their home school.
3.
HIV/AIDS- This course studies the HIV/AIDS disease process.
4.
Legal and Ethical Issues- Students will explore legal and ethical
issues of healthcare.
5.
Career Exploration/Employability- Students will explore
the various careers in Healthcare.
6.
Infection Control-Students will become knowledgeable about the
infectious process and prevention of the spread of disease.
7.
Nurse Aid Training Course- This course is designed and
maintained by the Ohio Department of Health. Students must complete
this program to be eligible to work as a nurse aid. Students will learn
basic healthcare skills and complete 16 hours clinical at a local
nursing home. Successful completion requires 90% attendance, a final
grade of 70% or greater, successful skill check-offs and completion of
16 clinical hours.
8.
American Heart Association CPR/American Red Cross First Aid--Students
will learn Healthcare Provider CPR and Basic First Aid. Upon successful
completion of this course, the students will receive certification. Students
must attend 90% of classes, have successful completion of all skill check-offs
and pass final test with 84% or greater. |
