Note: Lessons may vary from nine weeks to nine weeks

due to time factors or the introduction and elimination of various lessons through out the year.

 

And …throughout the year, the curriculum builds onto the foundation of all the students’ art works with reinforcement

of the elements and principles

of design.  These design elements and principles are also used in art criticism and their decision-making processes for their art works. 

These will also be used to enhance their art appreciation skills and the value of art to them in their world.

 

 

1.  Artist Presentation – Present to

     the class 10 facts about the

     artist and their work and show

     10 photos of the artist’s work.

 

2. & 3. Free projects -  create a

            work of their choice of

            media and subject matter

            – larger than 8˝” X 11”.

 

4.  Water color paining – at least

     12 X 18 – any subject.

 

5.  Ink drawing – at least 12 X 18

     – any subject.

 

6.  Figure drawing – any medium

     – at least 12 X 18.

 

7.  Enter the YAM Flag

     competition.

 

 

8.  Texture pattern project.

 

9.  We will take a field trip to the

     Wexner Center and Winterfair.

 

Semester Drawing Exam.

 

 

 

1.  Learn about an artist and be

     able to explain and show

     examples to the class.

 

2. & 3.  Create what the student  

              likes to do best.

 

 

4.  Use watercolor to create an art

     project.

 

5.  Use ink to create an art project.

 

6.  Draw a figure and show

     shading on it to further their

     drawing skills.

 

7.  Work with commercial art and

     further their skills in their

     choice of media. 

 

8.  Use good design and patterning

     to create a work of art.

 

9.  Learn about contemporary art.

 

 

Semester Exam – Use their art skills in creating a work of art.

 

All art work this year is graded on the following:

 

  1. Which level of art they are in.
  2. Neatness of the project. 
  3. Use of the media.
  4. Using good design.
  5. The presentation of the work.
  6. Whether or not requirements were met.
  7. Quality of the work.
  8. What progress the individual student is making.
